Resource Use Efficiency and Profitability Analysis of Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) Production in Kogi State, Nigeria

Understanding the resource use efficiency and profitability in catfish production is essential for maximizing productivity, minimizing environmental impact, ensuring sustainable economic growth aquaculture industry. This study assessed analysis of (Clarias gariepinus) Kogi State, Nigeria. Primary data obtained through questionnaire administration to one hundred sixty (160) farmers State were analysed using descriptive statistics, Cobb-Douglass function, ratio, gross margin, mean score from Likert type scale. The result showed that 68.12 percent males a productive age 48 years. major farming practices/enterprise combination include; sole (78.75 percent), fish cum vegetable (44.38 percent) poultry (40.63 percent). Analysis fingerlings, labour vaccines underused while feed, pond fuel overused by State. calculated margin among N2, 110,136.01k with profit N1, 333,910.54k, indicating net financial gain after deducting all costs. benefit-cost ratio (BCR) 1.32, suggesting every unit cost invested production, there return 1.32 units revenue. serious constraints faced inadequate finance (mean = 2.88), high feed 2.87), power supply 2.66), cannibalism (2.42), processing experience 2.32), low market price 2.21). Among others, recommended that, government should: implement policies promote access quality inputs, provide technical assistance training farmers, facilitate access, create an enabling business environment.
